Breast cancer awareness is a crucial issue for women’s health today. Few other serious diseases are so prevalent among women, and few of them are so preventable. Breast Cancer Insight, an informational website and seller of informational e-books, contains a wealth of information on breast cancer: from its causes, to its prevention, to its treatment.

Breast Cancer Insight was created by Dr. Jerry Lang, a medical professional with expert knowledge of breast cancer. Dr. Lang and his colleagues at Breast Cancer Insight started their website because of a shared determination to raise breast cancer awareness among the general populace.

Breast cancer awareness is generally lacking in the broader culture, and this is a major public health issue for women. Though the disease is frequently treatable if detected early, many women still delay needed mammograms, despite decades of persistent urging to the contrary by the media and various federal, state, and local breast cancer awareness organizations. Breast Cancer Insight adds a valuable dose of expert knowledge to the ongoing discussion of breast cancer awareness, breast cancer detection, and breast cancer treatment.

Breast Cancer Insight provides a wide range of breast cancer research materials, all of them vetted by experts in the field. Visitors to the site can read about symptoms of the disease, which include lumps in the breast, and swelling. They can also learn about the disease’s treatment, which generally includes some form of chemotherapy, combined with surgery. Breast Cancer Insight also sells an e-book, entitled “Breast Cancer Surgery – An Overview,” which contains a comprehensive discussion of what patients can expect from typical breast cancer surgery.

Breast Cancer Insight also tackles the problem of breast cancer awareness from the angle of research. Every day, researchers make important new discoveries that relate to breast cancer, but since ordinary people usually find it difficult to keep up with cutting-edge scientific literature, they often remain unaware of these important developments. Breast Cancer Insight keeps abreast of these research developments and summarizes them in easy to read language, to ensure total breast cancer awareness even among those without expert medical knowledge.

Another very important aspect of breast cancer awareness is knowledge of prevention strategies, and here, too, Breast Cancer Insight is active. The site contains a section devoted to explaining, in plain language the many ways of preventing the onset of breast cancer through knowledge of risk factors, proper diet, and so on.

Breast Cancer Insight also offers information on breast cancer support groups, which are a critical component of breast cancer awareness. Anyone who has received a breast cancer diagnosis is bound to be confused and overwhelmed, and the support of a likeminded group can positively affect treatment outcomes.

Breast Cancer Insight also raises breast cancer awareness by enabling visitors to contact the site’s creators directly. This is a great way to get answers to crucial breast cancer questions.

Breast Cancer Insight is a provider of breast cancer information, to promote breast cancer awareness. They also sell e-books with information relating to breast cancer treatment. For more information, visit BreastCancerInsight.

Beach season is upon us, which can only mean one thing for men suffering with gynecomastia- swimming with your shirt on.  Gynecomastia, more commonly referred to as “man-boobs”, is not uncommon, as it is estimated to affect somewhere between 40%-60% of the male population.  So take a second gents, lift up your shirts and have a long, hard look.  If you see something sagging, male breast reduction could be for you!

What is it?

But what exactly does gynecomastia correction surgery entail?  First and foremost, it is wise to get a mammogram or breast x-ray prior to surgery, which can rule out any serious, albeit unlikely, causes of gynecomastia such as breast cancer or tumors.  Generally, male breast enlargement is due to either excess glandular tissue in the chest or excess fatty tissue in the chest.

In cases where glandular tissue is the primary cause, a small incision will be made around the edge of the areola or somewhere under the arm.  From there, the surgeon will extract not only unnecessary tissue, but also excess fat and skin from around the nipple, as well as the bottom and sides of the breast in question.  In cases where fatty tissue is the culprit, liposuction may be the only procedure needed.  In which case, a small incision is made around the areola or somewhere in the armpit so that a cannula (a tube that drains fluids) can be inserted to suck out the fat.

Who needs it?

If you are feeling self-conscious about your gynecomastia, which in Greek roughly translates to the not-so-subtle “woman- like breasts”, then maybe male breast reduction will work for you.  However, if you are feeling self-conscious because you are a 13-year old boy going through puberty, the best idea is to wait it out.  Though gynecomastia is common during puberty, it is generally a passing phase that will correct itself over the course of a few months.  So hang in there young men, don’t let those Greek jerks get you down by comparing you to women.

Gynecomastia can stem from several different factors, the most obvious being obesity.  However, other causes include genetic disorders, side effects from medication, chronic liver disease, aging, and steroid use.  Drugs or medication that enhance estrogen or inhibit testosterone synthesis are generally the ones that produce gynecomastia, although drugs as common as alcohol, marijuana, and valium may also contribute to your “woman- like breasts” physique.

The best candidates should be healthy, emotionally stable men of any age.  It is ideal that the patient has firm, elastic skin so that it will reshape to the body’s new form.  In some cases, surgery may be unnecessary, especially if your condition of gynecomastia is due to lifestyle preferences.  If you are obese, for example, simple exercise and weight loss will minimize body fat, which may in turn decrease fatty tissue within the chest.  Likewise, if you drink alcohol in excessive amounts or smoke a lot of marijuana (we’re talking High Times subscriber level) it may be best to cease consumption for several weeks to see if any reversal signs of gynecomastia occur.

Benefits

There is a significant difference in before-and-after pictures (check it out online if you’re into that sort of thing).  Not only is the surgery permanent, but it is fairly simple and in the most common cases, involves only one incision that is generally well-disguised either on the edge of the areola or under the arm.

However, the biggest benefit is the boost in confidence, seeing as how a lack of confidence is the primary reason why most men get breast reduction surgery in the first place.  Get ready to seek out friends who throw lots of pool parties.

Risks?

If you are being treated by a qualified plastic surgeon (i.e. not some guy you met behind Safeway) then complications should be rare or minor at best.  However, surgery of any kind can be risky.  Possible risks include infection, skin injury, excessive bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia and excessive fluid loss or accumulation.  Noticeable scars are possible (especially when major breast reductions are involved) as well as permanent pigment changes around the breast and slightly asymmetric nipples.  Temporary effects may include a numbness of the breast or loss of sensation, which could potentially last up to a year.

If you’re afraid of taking your shirt off this beach season, you may want to consider male breast reduction.  Unless the beach in question is Coney Island, in which case, who cares if you have man-boobs?  Have a Coney Dog and relax.

The information in the article is not intended to substitute for the medical expertise and advice of your health care provider. We encourage you to discuss any decisions about treatment or care with an appropriate health care provider.

By Rosemary Lichtman, Ph.D. and Phyllis Goldberg, Ph.D.

For the past 25 years, October has been designated National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You’ll find races to run that raise funds for research. Stores will be selling everything from mixmasters to ipods in pink. In fact, pink ribbons will be virtually everywhere. What does this focus on early detection and recovery mean to you?

If you are over 40, have regular screening mammograms and perform monthly breast self-exams. And see your physician for an annual breast exam and consultation about risk factors and additional diagnostic steps to take, such as MRI. With early detection, most breast cancers now can be successfully treated. There are between 2 and 3 million American women living today who have survived breast cancer and are thriving. Yet, as many survivors have learned, the process of coping with any serious illness can take its toll – emotionally and physically. These 7 tips will help you manage your recovery so you can move forward with your life:

1. Accept your changing emotions as normal and give yourself permission to express them. After a brush with cancer, it’s normal to experience many different feelings, such as anger, fear, anxiety, depression or stress. Talk openly with those you trust and acknowledge these feelings to yourself. Only then can you begin to cope with them.

2. Recognize the changes in your body. You may feel that your body has betrayed you, leaving you vulnerable and with a loss of innocence about your own invincibility. Take time to grieve this loss. You may also experience side effects of the treatments – fatigue, weight change, hair loss, or menopausal symptoms. Once you determine how your body is reacting, you can address each of the symptoms in efforts to alleviate them.

3. Enjoy the support you receive from others. Your family and friends can provide a caring network. You may also want to join a breast cancer support group, either in person or on-line. Support is helpful in many ways – it gives you someone to listen to you when you need to talk, someone to give you information and feedback, someone to help you with practical matters such as meals and errands. Support will be there for you if you look for it. It may feel awkward at first to ask, but you’ll find friends want to do what they can to help you out.

4. Take care of yourself. Pamper yourself – you deserve it! Set aside time to start or continue an exercise program that includes aerobics, flexibility and strengthening exercises. Enjoy eating a more healthful diet, rich in fruits and vegetables. Schedule relaxation time to decrease the stresses in your life. Learn visualization techniques. Think about what you really enjoy doing and do it. Of course this may be easier said than done, but stick with your decision to make time for yourself. You can make it happen.

5. Redirect yourself toward active goal setting. When a serious illness strikes, you may feel like your life is completely out of control. To regain a sense of direction, reflect on the priorities that are important to you and then set a goal within your reach. Identify your strengths and build on them as you plan how to achieve your objectives. Journaling can help as you consider different strategies and options. Initiate your plan in small steps and review your progress regularly.

6. Make something positive come out of a difficult situation. Women who are able to find some positive meaning in negative circumstances experience growth as well as a sense of control and feelings of confidence and optimism. Think about how you can use the unique perspective you have gained to make the rest of your life richer and more meaningful.

7. Take credit for the challenge you have overcome and the changes you are making. Recognize and accept that you have faced many difficulties in the process of healing. Give yourself credit for the hard work it took to get to this point in your recovery. You have learned a lot about yourself – and made changes in the way you think, feel and react to others and the situation around you.

As women move through the steps of coping with breast cancer and its treatments, staying informed and involved in the process provides a sense of power and resiliency. One breast cancer survivor put it this way after completing a tough charity walk to raise funds for research: “As I crossed the ‘finish line’ in the pouring cold rain, I felt the exhilaration of my accomplishment, knowing that I had begun to trust myself again. I realized it had taken a long time for me to finally come to terms with the disease that had threatened my life. But now, with the acknowledgement and recognition that I allowed myself to accept from family and friends, I knew, through my tears, that I would have the strength to continue rebuilding myself, body and soul.”

There are many controversies regarding the subject of health and wellness, everyone having of course a different opinion. As parents, it is only natural that we are concerned with the well-being of our children, wanting them to grow up and develop into fine adults. Natural parenting is not an impossible objective and it can certainly be reached if we turn to help now and then. Where are we to find advice?

You might not think as the Internet to be the perfect place to learn how to be a better parent but it really is. There are several resources available on health and wellness, recommended for the entire family and they probably represent the first step you need to take. Once you discover a website that offers all important tips on natural parenting, stick with it. You will find the information to be highly useful and quite practical. After all, you do not want someone to show you how to be a parent. A few tips should do the trick.

Children are pretty amazing beings. However, they need our guidance and often times, they rely on our maturity. Health and wellness are two important subjects to treat, requiring now only experience but also common sense. Parents can benefit from various articles written either by other parents or specialists in natural parenting. These teach them about the importance of being a good parent, raising your children the right way. Is there a wrong way? Not really, but there are many things we have to learn. Kids go through different development stages, they get sick and probably hurt. We need to know how to respond to such situations properly.

If you have a newborn, then perhaps you are more than scared when it comes to being a parent. What are you to do if the baby catches a cold? And what if he/she gets sick for no apparent reason? Listen to what other people who have gone through similar situations have to say. Go online, read all about child disease and different phases the little ones have go through. When you find the time, compile all the information you have obtained from the Internet into a notebook. The moment you need answers, open your notes on health and wellness, natural parenting and so on. And make sure that you pay a visit on the Internet to discover the latest.

When you think about subjects like health and wellness, you also have to take yourself into consideration. If you want your children to learn all about being healthy, then you have to stay fit and do all the right things. Eat an apple a day. Start exercising and drink plenty of water. Don’t forget your daily dose of green vegetables. These are the things specialists try to teach us. If they work for children, why not try it on us? Natural parenting should be all about being a good parent but also a healthy, in-shape one. Online, you can read all about how to become a runner but also interesting articles on mammograms, skin cancer and vaccines. Be concerned. Be a parent.

As a general conclusion, there are no set rules when it comes to natural parenting. Follow your instinct and make sure that you keep yourself informed. If you do not have the time to buy books on general health and wellness, go on the Internet and browse specialized websites. They can teach you everything you need to know, without occupying too much of your precious time. What you have left, dedicate it to the children. They represent the best part of who we really are.

It used to be that when we were sick – or something was bothering us physically – we went to the doctor. However, for many today, the doctor’s opinion takes second place to the Internet…Welcome Dr. Google!!!

Using the Internet to look into medical conditions comes with its pros and cons, which can benefit or harm us depending on how much we depending on the information that we find.

On the pro side of the discussion, anytime we want to search for information, so that we can be more informed, that is a positive thing. When it comes to your health, especially with heart disease, cancer, or chronic health issues, the more informed you are, the better able you are to do things to better your health. In addition to being more informed, looking for medical information on the Internet is a positive thing because:

You can decide whether you condition is one that requires immediate medical attention or whether it is okay to wait a couple of days to see the doctor
You can learn important information – or questions to ask – when and if you need to see the doctor
You can find information on unusual conditions at a time that is convenient to you
Information that is up-to-date and
You may be able to find organizations or support groups, which can help you connect with others who can understand you because they are fighting the same disease
Although these pros are quite encouraging, there are also some cons associated with getting medical information in this way. They include the following:
You can learn information that can upset you, making you even more paranoid about the symptoms you are having
There are many physical symptoms that can be indicative of a variety of medical conditions. For example: joint pain can be a symptom of lupus or rheumatoid arthritis or the flu… or just from a weekend of doing too many home repair projects. Just because you have one or two symptoms connected to a particular disorder, that does not mean you have that specific problem – it could be something else entirely;
When self-diagnosing using information found on the Internet, we may misdiagnose ourselves. It really requires a doctor to look at your symptoms as a whole, to determine which disease or disorder you might have – if any at all;
You can’t believe everything you read, as anyone can create a website – even those trying to sell a “miracle cure” of some sort; and
You might come across images or stories that disturb you while researching your symptoms, something that may upset you. Sometimes these images or stories do not have anything to do with the condition in which you are researching.

When comparing the pros and cons regarding “Dr. Google,” you can see the benefits of online medical research, while hopefully understanding that it does need to be completed carefully, so that you are not misinformed. It is also important to ensure that you do not misdiagnose yourself as well.

Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that most of the medical websites have a disclaimer at the bottom of their pages, stating that what you are reading is for research purposes only. Information found on the Internet should not be used as your sole source of medical information. Website information is not meant as a substitute for treatment or medical advice from a doctor or other healthcare provider. If you keep this in mind, you can research your symptoms more safely on the Internet.

So, when you are looking online for information for the symptoms you are experiencing, keep the following tips in mind:

If you find information on one site, do not assume that this one site have accurate information. Look for the same information to be repeated on more than one site. For example, if you read on one site that sleeping upside down in a cure for a sinus infection, do not try doing it if you cannot find that information anywhere else on the Internet. There are many people out there making sites for their personal benefit only – and you have to be careful not to believe everything you read.
Use the information you find to develop a list of questions that you should ask your physician. The more questions you ask, the better informed you can be. Additionally, since doctors are often over-booked, they may forget to tell you something unless you ask.
DO NOT use the information you find as the ONLY diagnosis for what you are experiencing. The Internet is a great resource for information, but it is not a trained medical professional – and you should not treat your symptoms based only on what you found on the Internet. Some of the “cures” you can read about could actually harm you if you do not have the condition that you think you have. So, do your research, stay informed, and open a line of communication with your doctor or other medical professional.

Unfortunately, education and socialization will these options and their effectiveness in detecting breast cancer in different levels is less.

Better than Mammography

At the beginning of his article, Beyond Mammography, Dr. Len Saputo told me that he followed the development of all detection methods used by the medical community, including mammography, clinical breast test, ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and PET scans.

In the next section, Dr. Len explained about a method of detection is better than mammography, explains in detail how the latest and great this one method, namely termografi breast (breast Thermography).

Termografi breast is a breast cancer detection methods that have been there since around the 1960s, using a scanner monitors the heat to heat variation detecting breast in the body. However, the infrared scanner in these years was less sensitive. Today, more termografi modern breast has undergone a very rapid progress than ever before.

Breast cancer is the second most violent to women in the United States. Based on the latest reports Cancer.org, 2007-2008 Breast Cancer Data, in the year 2007 there have been 178,000 new cases of breast cancer and more than 40,000 women die of it.

But to watch a man not immune to breast cancer. Has found more than 2,000 men diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and approximately 450 men died because of it. Because detection of breast cancer for men is almost never done, this seems to make a man diagnosed with a more severe stage, and thus a small survival rate.

Unfortunately, in this case the conventional medical still use the old method of detecting and treating cancer, no matter how much less effective method.

The use of mammography as a standard is one example of conventional medical errors in detecting cancer.

The Case Against Mammography

Health institutions in the United States recommends all women over 40 years to get a mammogram every 1 or 2 years, but there is no strong evidence that mammogram tests could save lives and the benefits were too controversial. It is precisely the danger to the health of mammography has been clearly known.

John Gofman, M.D., Ph.D. – A nuclear physicist and a medical doctor, and one of the world-class experts in the field of radiation hazards, presenting the evidence irrefutable in his book “Radiation from Medical Procedures in the Pathogenesis of Cancer and Ischemic Heart Disease”, which explains that the more 50% rate of cancer deaths was triggered by the use of x-ray.

Now let’s consider the fact that the routine practice of taking pictures 4 movies in each breast a person each year, resulting in approximately 1 rad (radiation absorbed dose) exposure to radiation, it means the same as 1000 times greater than the photos chest x-ray.

How to Improve Mammography Your Risk of Cancer Affected

X-ray and other ionizing radiation classmates in a few decades has been shown to cause any kind of biological mutations. At the beginning of biological mutation is not lethal. But these mutations accumulate gradually with each additional exposure to x-ray or other ionizing radiation.

X-rays are also known to cause of genomic instability, which is one characteristic of the most aggressive cancers.

In addition, the risk of radiation was 4 times greater for 1-2% of women who are carriers of AT gene (ataxia-telangiectasia), which in the calculation of average per year was 20% in patients with breast cancer.

When calculated, reducing the frequency of medical radiation exposure, such as a mammogram will reduce mortality.

The practice of screening mammography itself result in a cumulative risk of breast cancer, especially for women who were premenopausal at the time.

What’s worse, the wrong positive diagnosis often occurs for 89%, which resulted in many women get mastectomy (surgical removal of breasts) unnecessary and harmful, coupled with radiation or chemotherapy.

In certain cases mammography is beneficial. But the fact is there are technologies out there, a proven technology is cheaper, not really a health hazard and more effective in saving many people.

Now imagine what if you could look into ourselves and find out what’s going to happen and “developing” 10 years later at the breast, where it will enable you to take prevention measures against the development of early cancer and alter radically the pattern of life for health you.

The technology is already there since the 1960s, the Termografi Breast Screening.

Termografi Breast Screening – The alternative method is more safe and more effective

Most doctors still recommend a mammogram for fear of being sued by a female patient who developed breast cancer because she did not advise patients to check with a mammogram. But I suggest you to think about your health and to consider alternative methods of safer and effective than a mammogram.

Options for breast screening that I strongly recommend is termografi breast screening.

Termografi screening is very simple. He measured the infrared radiation of heat from your body and translates this information into the form of images. Your blood circulation is normal in control autonomik nervous system that regulates your body’s functions.

Termografi not use mechanical equipment to suppress or ionizing radiation, and can detect signs of breast cancer before she developed 10 years earlier than mammography or physical examination!

Mammography can not detect a tumor until the tumor unless it has been grown and certain size. But it is different with termografi where he could detect the possibility of breast cancer much earlier.

It can even detect the potential existence of any cancer before the tumor was formed because he could describe the early stages of angiogenesis, the formation of a direct channeling of blood to cancer cells, which is a necessary step before the formation is developed to grow to the size of the tumor.

Many men will be saved his life by this method because mammography is not regularly applied to men.

Other risk factors are usually ignored and How You Avoid It

Breast density and circulating levels of sex hormones are two of the high breast cancer risk factors commonly found in women in post-menopausal stage. A study in the year 2007 published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute confirmed that although these two factors usually appear together, they are also independent risk factors.

The researchers found that (after controlling other factors) when breast density was not taken into account, the circulation of women with high sex hormone, has a risk of developing breast cancer two times greater than those circulating sex hormones low. And the women who have a quarter of breast density is higher, has a risk four times greater than low, regardless of the level of sex hormones.

The women with both factors of high sex hormone and the most dense breasts have a risk six times greater breast cancer.

The presenter in this study emphasizes the importance of screening and perhaps, the most important thing is to maintain a balanced weight to keep the hormone levels remain good. American Cancer Society recognizes that obesity is very influential on several deaths due to cancer.

Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight-from back and neck pain and skin irritation to skeletal deformities and breathing problems. Bra straps may leave indentations in their shoulders. And unusually large breasts can make a woman-or a teenage girl-feel extremely self-conscious.

Breast reduction, technically known as reduction mammaplasty, is designed for such women. The procedure removes fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. The goal is to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of her body.

If you’re considering breast reduction, this will give you a basic understanding of the procedure- when it can help, how it’s performed, and what results you can expect. It can’t answer all of your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Please be sure to ask your doctor if there is anything about the procedure you don’t understand.

The best candidates for breast reduction

Breast reduction is usually performed for physical relief rather than simply cosmetic improvement. Most women who have the surgery are troubled by very large, sagging breasts that restrict their activities and cause them physical discomfort.

In most cases, breast reduction isn’t performed until a woman’s breasts are fully developed; however, it can be done earlier if large breasts are causing serious physical discomfort. The best candidates are those who are mature enough to fully understand the procedure and have realistic expectations about the results. Breast reduction is not recommended for women who intend to breast-feed.

All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk

Breast reduction is not a simple operation, but it’s normally safe when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there is always a possibility of complications, including bleeding, infection, or reaction to the anesthesia. Some patients develop small sores around their nipples after surgery; these can be treated with antibiotic creams. You can reduce your risks by closely following your physician’s advice both before and after surgery.

The procedure does leave noticeable, permanent scars, although they’ll be covered by your bra or bathing suit. (Poor healing and wider scars are more common in smokers.) The procedure can also leave you with slightly mismatched breasts or unevenly positioned nipples. Future breast-feeding may not be possible, since the surgery removes many of the milk ducts leading to the nipples.

Some patients may experience a permanent loss of feeling in their nipples or breasts. Rarely, the nipple and areola may lose their blood supply and the tissue will die. (The nipple and areola can usually be rebuilt, however, using skin grafts from elsewhere on the body.)

In your initial consultation, it’s important to discuss your expectations frankly with your surgeon, and to listen to his or her opinion. Every patient-and every physician, as well-has a different view of

what is a desirable size and shape for breasts.

The surgeon will examine and measure your breasts, and will probably photograph them for reference during surgery and afterwards. (The photographs may also be used in the processing of your insurance coverage.) He or she will discuss the variables that may affect the procedure-such as your age, the size and shape of your breasts, and the condition of your skin. You should also discuss where the nipple and areola will be positioned; they’ll be moved higher during the procedure, and should be approximately even with the crease beneath your breasts.

Your surgeon should describe the procedure in detail, explaining its risks and limitations and making sure you understand the scarring that will result. The surgeon should also explain the anesthesia he or she will use, the facility where the surgery will be performed, and the costs. (Some insurance companies will pay for breast reduction if it’s medically necessary; however, they may require that a certain amount of breast tissue be removed. Check your policy, and have your surgeon write a “predetermination letter” if required.)

Your surgeon may require you to have a mammogram (breast x-ray) before surgery. You’ll also get specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications. Some surgeons suggest that their patients diet before the operation.

Breast reduction doesn’t usually require a blood transfusion. However, if a large amount of breast tissue will be removed, your physician may advise you to have a unit of blood drawn ahead of time. That way, if a transfusion should be needed, your own blood can be used.

While you’re making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days if needed.

Breast reduction surgery may be performed in a hospital, an outpatient surgery center or an office-based surgical suite. If you are admitted to the hospital, your stay will be a short one. The surgery itself usually takes two to four hours, but may take longer in some cases.

Breast reduction is nearly always performed under general anesthesia. You’ll be asleep through the entire operation.

Techniques for breast reduction vary, but the most common procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision that circles the areola, extends downward, and follows the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. The surgeon removes excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin, and moves the nipple and areola into their new position. He or she then brings the skin from both sides of the breast down and around the areola, shaping the new contour of the breast. Liposuction may be used to remove excess fat from the armpit area. Talk to your plastic surgeon in Los Angeles

Then medical price points started to rise, people began to live longer and the medical profession became adept at curing various diseases and saving and prolonging the lives of shoppers with serious injuries and life-threatening illnesses. Health care and coverage expense began rising that much a good amount quickly than annual incomes and premiums began taxing both employers, who were bringing in the lion’s share of premiums, and for employees, to whom organizations often passed on costs through perfect deductibles, greater out of pocket expenses and higher premiums.

Corresponding to a recent study by the MSNBC News Service, 41 per cent of Americans whose profit ranges from moderate to middle had no health insurance for at least side of 2005. In 2001, that rate was still lower—28 percent. Additionally, a good deal more as opposed to 50 per cent of uninsured Americans in 2005 found it difficult to pay their medical bills. Another alarming statistic—28 per cent of Americans in 2005 had no health insurance, additonally 24 percent had none in 2001.

So, what should a individual do if they don’t have any quality of life protection or if they hold a selection between a cheap mark down plan that performs not payback core rates and an affordable initiative that may cost a bit more but also provides much better coverage? Corresponding to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the majority of persons who are not covered for important screening tests, the as a mammogram, colon cancer screening or a PSA test, will not have those exams. Also, close to 60 percent of persons without vitality insurance missed treatment or did not buy medicine needed for a chronic condition.

All of these figures point to one thing—people who miss health coverage for primary services are frequently incapable to pay for those services, putting them at greater risk for developing new or exacerbating existing health conditions.

What should you give the impression for in a health insurance plan, especially when cost is an issue? It’s important that you get the best coverage you can afford. Skimping on premiums can save you money upfront, but the result can prove to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Sometimes people can’t afford coverage and sometimes they think because they are sharp that they simply don’t need it. However, excellent people get ill or are faced in serious accidents all the time. You never know when you’ll need coverage.

Some individuals opt for “catastrophic” insurance, which ordinarily covers only major medical and hospital price levels above a specific deductible. Under such a plan, the insured pays for average doctor visits and prescription drugs. With this sort of plan, you’ll pay a low monthly premium but will also suffer a high deductible and limited coverage. Deductibles start at $500 per year but can be considerably more. If you purchase an cheap policy with a $10,000 deductible and you undergo surgery that costs $8,000, you are required to pay that $8,000. If your surgery costs $12,000, you would owe $10,000.

One insurance company offers a plan which costs $29 per period for a 21 year-old, non-smoking female. There’s a yearly $250 deductible and $2,500 in out of pocket price points that the insured ought to pay before the policy kicks in. Hospital, surgical and x-ray price points are covered but other costs, such as doctor visits, prescription drugs, maternity care and mental healthcare are not included. There’s a lifespan maximum of $1 million.

It’s surely a bargain, if you don’t plan on heading to the doctor very often. To enroll in a plan that will cover doctor visits, prescriptions, maternity expenses and more could easily cost $400 per month—a jump of $371 every 30 days for a total rates of $4,800 per year!

Group well being insurance plans, which you can ordinarily enroll in through your employer, union or guild, are the best buy. Individual plans, especially people that propose comprehensive coverage, can be crippling to many people’s pocketbooks. When buying health insurance, it’s important to shop around. Your choice of what type of plan you purchase would be determined by what you can afford and what you need as far as indemnity is concerned. There’s no ideal or wrong choice when it comes to health insurance but at the very minimum you should have catastrophic insurance policy.

There are basically 3 sorts of plans—Fee-For-Service, Health Maintenance organizations (HMO) and Preferred Provider organizations (PPO). Fee-For-Service plans post the various choice regarding doctors and hospitals but properties frequently involve quite a bit of paperwork and are the most costly. If you’re willing to give up some or a lot of choice, do less paperwork and save certain money on premiums then either a HMO or a PPO is for you.

A HMO supplies the least rate of choice, involves co-pays, has the least total sum of paperwork and is the cheapest of the 3 types of insurance. A PPO combines some elements of Fee-For-Service and a HMO. You’ll have funny things choice than you can with a HMO but less than you would with a Fee-For-Service plan. It tends to be more pricey than a HMO but less expensive than Fee-For-Service. All three sorts of protection hold some aspect of Managed Care—which determines how even health care you can use—attached to them, investing in Fee-For-Service going through the fewest limitations and a HMO being restricted the most.

When shopping for quality of life insurance ask the following questions—

* How much is the premium?
* What services are covered?
* What are the total deductible and out of pocket expenses per year?
* How much are the co-pays?
* What is the maximum life-time benefit?
* How much freedom may you have when picking doctors and hospitals?
* What are the pre-approval procedures for seeing specialists, undergoing a procedure or making looking at a test?
* What prescription drugs are covered and to what grade?
* Is mental quality of life covered and to how point?
* Is dental covered and to what point?

As you start to narrow down your choices, you can look more closely at exact plans the seem to fit your requires and determine which offering you the best rate for your dollar?

America has one of the finest healthcare organizations in the world and one of the most complicated health insurance policy systems across the globe. oftentimes, properties give the impression to be at odds with one another, not able to communicate and work together. That can be one of the the majority of frustrating parts of anyone’s foray to the market of healthcare professionals, hospitals and health insurance companies. For this cause alone, it’s essential the present you carefully and thoughtfully decide your healthcare benefits provider

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed of all the cancers affecting women in America today. It strikes women of all ages and races but is particularly prevalent in women over forty.

Researchers are constantly seeking new methods for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of this virulent cancer. The success of this research has played a big part in the early detection and successful treatment of more cases of breast cancer in recent years.

New treatments are constantly being sought to effectively seek out any potentially cancerous cells in a woman’s body. This reduces the number of cases of breast cancer significantly.

Thanks to this continued research, many more women are surviving breast cancer than ever before. The recovery rate has steadily been increasing. Early detection and treatment is the key to this success.

Information regarding breast cancer has become more widely available. It is no longer the silent killer that it once was. Women are being educated as to their risks of developing the cancer and methods of checking their breasts for signs of the disease.

A woman has an increased probability of developing breast cancer if she falls into certain categories. The first is that she has passed the age of 40, especially if she had children after that age. Obesity and excessive alcohol consumption can also contribute to the chances of a woman developing the disease being greater than average.

Initially, breast cancer is only detectable by a mammogram. The disease has no detectable symptoms but a mammogram would be able to highlight potentially cancerous cells. It is for this reason that women over 40 should have annual mammograms.

Self-examination of the breasts is a method that every woman should use to check for the presence of tumors in their early stage of growth. Your doctor or other medical practitioner can advise you on the best method of self-examination if you are unsure of the proper technique.

You should examine your breasts at least once a month, but the more frequently you do so, the earlier you will detect any lumps. If you think that you may have found a lump it is essential that you seek urgent medical advice.

Although research into breast cancer prevention is an ongoing process, there have been a number of breakthroughs recently. The National Cancer Institute has tested a number of drugs that could potentially prevent the disease altogether.

The two drugs that the NCI tested have shown that they have the potential to prevent the cancer are BCPT and Star. The first drug was given to 13,000 women who were at risk of developing the disease and 19,000 were given the second. These large studies showed that the predicted instances of cancer were significantly reduced. However, neither drug has had FDA approval to date.

Of course, it isn’t just American women who are at risk of this deadly form of female cancer. Women all around the globe are at risk. Researchers are constantly striving to discover methods of detecting and treating the disease. Women are still dying from this type pf cancer and it is essential that the work continues until the disease is eradicated. Until then, it is vital that all women perform regular self-examinations. Early detection is the best hope that a woman has of overcoming and surviving breast cancer.

Summary:

Although research into breast cancer prevention is an ongoing process, there have been a number of breakthroughs recently. The National Cancer Institute has tested a number of drugs that could potentially prevent the disease altogether.

              What is Breast Cancer?

The term breast cancer refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. The breast is composed of two main types of tissues: glandular tissues and stromal (supporting) tissues. Glandular tissues house the milk-producing glands (lobules) and the ducts (the milk passages) while stromal tissues include fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast. The breast is also made up of lymphatic tissue-immune system tissue that removes cellular fluids and waste. There are several types of tumors that may develop within different areas of the breast. Most tumors are the result of benign (non-cancerous) changes within the breast….

Symptoms of Breast Cancer

Early breast cancer usually does not cause pain. In fact, when it first develops, breast cancer may cause no symptoms at all. But as the cancer grows, it can cause these changes:

a lump or thickening in the breast or armpit
a change in the size or shape of the breast
discharge from the nipple
A change in the color or texture of the skin of the breast or areola (such as dimpling, puckering, or scaliness)….
Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

Treatment decisions depend on these findings. The first step in the work-up of breast disease is usually a physical exam by a doctor or nurse practitioner. Mammography and ultrasound may be important additions to the physical examination. On the basis of these evaluations, the decision may be made to confirm a clinical impression with a tissue biopsy…
